Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you, if you are a Baby Boomer.

Being a baby boomer means that there are thousands, if not millions, of people trying to figure out what you want and trying to give it to you when you want it.  As a 50 something boomer, I have become resigned to the fact that whenever I try to be different, millions of other 50 something boomers are thinking exactly the same thing.

I used to be a little depressed by this. After all, how can I get ahead if there are millions of people who are thinking exactly like me?  Recently though, I've come to realize that being a baby boomer is very much like having your own genie in a bottle. All you have to do is wish for it and it appears!

Wishes are granted in many ways. Having trouble with that old fashioned hand crank can opener? Presto: here's one with thick plastic handles that's really easy to use.

Have diabetes and need to inject yourself with insulin? Until the baby boomers started having diabetes, you had to use sharp, painful needles many times a day. Baby boomers start getting diabetes and suddenly pump devices, "no stick" testing and numerous other gadgets appear.

Do your feet hurt and does your hip ache when you go out for a walk (along with the thousands of other boomers)?  Someone has anticipated your need, designed special shoes with insoles that cushion your feet and guide your feet to ease your hip. Furthermore, they designed, manufactured and distributed them so that at the exact time you expressed your wish to have them, there they were, right in front of you at the store!

Being a Boomer can also invoke the King Midas touch-in-reverse. I know that if I ever think about selling my house and buying a condo, two things will happen: house prices in my area will go down and condos will go up because thousands of other boomers will be doing exactly the same thing at exactly the same time.

Until then, I am going to continue to make wishes and have my dreams come true.

Do you believe in coincidence?

If you don't believe in coincidences, you have to be careful not to fall into the crazy maze of conspiracy theories.  With that said, (puts on tinfoil hat) I wonder if the action in the Gaza strip is independent of the North Korea missile crisis. Is the timing of the New York Times article revealing the details of the US money monitoring efforts a coincidence or part of a larger effort? (Light on top of tinfoil hat starts blinking.)

One of the modern principles of war is to get inside the other guy's decision loop time frame so he can't respond fast enough and eventually collapses from overload.  The thought occured to me that multiple crises use up resources. Create enough of them at the same time, and you might paralyze response from the Administration.  Can we be witnessing a deliberate attempt to "get inside" our media front/State Department decision loops to overwhelm the system?

Food for thought (tinfoil hat starts spinning and blinking): If these things are not a coincidence, who is making the decisions?
